Welcome to Module 1 of our course!
In this Module, which runs from August 25-September 29, we’ll start working together as a community of readers and writers. The main ways we’ll do this are:
- selecting and explaining the reasons we chose a book to read with others
- using a variety of sources from the open internet and the library to support that choice
- understanding source use as readers and writers, and practicing it while sharing our ideas
- narrating and reflecting on the expertise and insight any reader brings to any text.
There are a number of activities that will help us do this. Some of them are listed on the syllabus, some will emerge from class discussion and writing tasks. Most will be completed in or just after class. Most will be brief.
All will hopefully help us think about the big goal: forming a community of readers and writers.
